How does the PIN protect my wallet?
Your PIN is a simple lock that keeps your wallet private on your device. Once set, it must be entered before anyone can open your wallet, so even if someone else picks up your phone, they cannot get in. You will be asked for it on the Welcome back screen each time you open the app. To set, change or turn off your PIN, go to Settings, then PIN.
What happens if I enter the wrong PIN too many times?
For your protection, repeated incorrect attempts gradually lock PIN entry: first a short pause, then a longer one, and after enough failed attempts the app requires an alternative verification to reset your passcode. This is to prevent anyone from guessing your PIN.
I forgot my PIN. How do I reset it?
On the PIN entry screen, tap Forgot PIN. We send a verification code to verify your phone or email; enter it to verify, then set a new PIN.
What is my private key, and where do I find it?
Your private key is the master key to your wallet. It is what proves the assets are yours, and the same key works across different blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Because it controls your funds directly, anyone who gets hold of it can access everything in your wallet, so it is extremely important to keep it private and never share it. You can view it under Settings, then Private Key, by tapping Show, and copy it if you need to back it up somewhere safe.
Should I share my private key with anyone?
Never share your private key with anyone. Anyone who has it can take any assets held in your account. Sorted Wallet will never ask you for your private key, and neither will our support team. Keep it private and store it somewhere safe and offline.
